Supported Independent Living Program for Youth

The Supported Independent Living program assists youth in Fort St John and Dawson Creek to become independent during the transition into adulthood.

You may access this program if:

  • You are 16 – 19 years of age.
  • You are a youth in care or you have a youth agreement.
  • You are on probation.
  • You are employed or enrolled in an education or training program.
  • You are not able to live at home or with a relative, and
  • A Financial Aid Worker, or Social Worker, who is employed by the Ministry for Children and Family Development, has referred you into the program.

PROGRAM FOCUS

  • Establishing rental accommodation.
  • Linking to appropriate health, dental, and social supports.
  • Providing assistance with financial planning and budgeting.
  • Providing individual, group, and peer support.
  • Providing personal, social, and general life skills training.
  • Assisting youth to maintain full time attendance at school or employment.
