Position Title: Domestic Violence Intervention Counsellor - Full Time Permanent
Classification: Clinical Counsellor
Program: Domestic Violence Intervention Program
Location: Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd and area including Indigenous Communities
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a Counselling Psychology, Social Work or related Degree. Eligibility for registration. Specialized training and experience in delivering trauma informed counselling. Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Experience working with Indigenous communities is preferred.
Duties: Provides one-to one therapeutic interventions to non-adjudicated perpetrators of domestic violence. Co-facilitates group counselling for perpetrators who use violence, physical, psychological and/ or sexual, or controlling behaviours within their intimate relationships and co-facilitates a group for the partners. Provides risk assessments, recommendations and safety planning support regarding the family to assist MCFD in case planning. Serves as a collaborative member of the Integrated Case Assessment Team in highest risk cases. Has a feminist and trauma based perspective. Maintains case notes, client records, forms, statistical information and reports as required. Able to work collaboratively with a dedicated and professional team.
Other Job Information: Must be prepared to have flexible hours to accommodate travel, evening and weekend sessions. Regular travel to the communities is required.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Vehicle Use: This position requires that you use your personal vehicle for travel in the region as needed. Your mileage will be reimbursed.
Vehicle Use: You must have a Class 5 BC driver’s license.
Hourly Rate: $37.66 – 46.15 according to experience. Full benefits and pension upon completion of probation

Position Title: Sexual Abuse Intervention Counsellor - Permanent Part-Time

Program: Sexual Abuse Intervention
Location: Fort St John
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a related field, plus 2 years’ recent related experience. The “Graduate Certificate in Complex Trauma and Child Sexual Abuse Intervention” from the Justice Institute would be an asset.
Duties: Provides specialized counselling services to children and adolescents who have experienced sexual abuse and their families. Also provides services to children 11 years of age and younger who engage in sexual behaviour problems. Clinical supervision is provided on a regular schedule. Clinical consultation and education will also be provided as needed.
Other Job Information: You must have a BC Class 5 driver’s license. Ability to operate a PC and related software.
Hours of Work: 27 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $37.66 - $46.15 according to relevant experience. This is a unionized position with the BCGEU.

Position Title: Teaching Home Support Worker - Permanent Part-Time
Classification: Community Support Worker
Program: Teaching Home Support
Location: Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge
Qualifications: Diploma in a related human/social service field. One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English. Computer literacy.
Duties: Provide teaching and assistance for activities such as cooking, grooming, money management, shopping, and laundry to families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Does cleaning, including extensive cleaning and disposal, major clean-up of the home interior including moving furniture and oven cleaning. Assists families to function more independently in their own homes through the teaching of daily life skills. Participates in the development of service plans, provides progress notes and other required documentation. Liaises with other community agencies as needed.
Other Job Information: Work may not always be done within normal working hours, depending on the client’s needs. Evening and weekend work may be required. Provides transportation for clients when required.
Hours of Work: 17.5 hours per week.
Vehicle Use: You must have a Class 5 BC Driver’s License, and a reliable vehicle. Annual vehicle inspections are required.
Hourly Rate: $21.63 – 25.19 depending on experience. This is a unionized position with the BCGEU.
