PROGRAM: Teaching Home Support

LOCATION: Fort St John and area

Qualifications

Diploma in a related human/social service field. One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Duties

Provide teaching and assistance for activities such as cooking, grooming, money management, shopping, and laundry to families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Does cleaning, including extensive cleaning and disposal, major clean-up of the home interior including moving furniture and oven cleaning. Assists families to function more independently in their own homes through the teaching of daily life skills. Participates in the development of service plans, provides progress notes and other required documentation. Liaises with other community agencies as needed.

Other Job Information

Work may not always be done within normal working hours, depending on the client’s needs. Evening and weekend work may be required. May provide transportation for clients.

Hours of Work

17.5 hours per week

Vehicle Use

You must have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle, mileage is reimbursed according to BCGEU rates.

Hourly Rate

$25.95 - $29.76 depending on experience.  

This is a unionized position with the BCGEU.
