Community Youth Justice Service Worker

PROGRAM: Community Youth Justice Service Worker - Permanent Part-Time

LOCATION: North Peace which includes Fort St. John, Taylor, Hudson’s Hope, Blueberry River First Nation, Halfway River First Nation and Doig River First Nation.

Qualifications

Diploma in a related human/social service field. One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English. Computer literacy.

Duties

Attends monthly staff meetings and meets regularly with Clinical Manager for supervision and support. Will provide one to one support to youth age 12-20 that are in conflict with the law.  Support the young person’s participation in rehabilitation and intervention programs such as substance abuse counselling, restorative justice approaches, Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services, life skills, and social skills.  Will facilitate and support the youth’s ongoing participation in school, vocational training, or employment. Maintains ongoing contact with parents/caregivers. Also, identify cultural, recreational and/or social activities to facilitate the young person’s participation in pro-social activities.  Work collaboratively as part of an Integrated Case Management Team. Transport youth to activities and appointments.  Travel within the geographic location for appointments with the youth. Will work cooperatively as a member of the Community Bridge team to ensure maintaining a positive/ supportive environment within agency staff.

Other Job Information

May be required to work outside normal office hours, such as evenings and weekends, depending on the time availability of the clients. Must have access to a roadworthy vehicle. Must have vehicle inspected on hire and annually thereafter. Must maintain vehicle according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Ability to operate a PC and related application software programs.

Vehicle Use

Transports youth when required. Must have a Class 5 BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle. Annual vehicle inspections are required at employer’s cost.

Hourly Rate

$27.54 - $31.61

Hours of Work:  17.5
