Position Title:                        Community Youth Justice Services Worker

Location:                                South Peace includes Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Saulteau First Nation and West Moberly First Nation.

Qualifications:                       Diploma in a related human/social service field.

                                               One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

                                                Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English.

                                                Computer literacy.

Duties:  Works cooperatively as a member of the Community Bridge team, creating and

maintaining a positive/ supportive environment within agency staff.  Attend

monthly staff meetings and meet regularly with Clinical Manager for supervision

and support. To provide one to one support to youth age 12-20 that are in conflict

with the law.  Engage the youth in pro social activities and support youth to

 disengage in negative activities/offending behaviour.  Will provide service to

youth who have received an Intensive Support and Supervision (ISSP) order, or

 have been directed to participate in ISSP, are referred to these programs by a

Youth Probation Officer.  ISSP conditions and orders are for youth requiring a

 higher level of intervention than regular probation orders.  Also, will give priority

for high priority support services (HPSS) to higher risk youth.  Support the young

person’s participation in rehabilitation and intervention programs such as

substance abuse counselling, restorative justice approaches, Youth Forensic

Psychiatric Services, life skills, social skills.   Facilitate and support the Young

 person’s ongoing participation in school, vocational training, or employment.

 Maintain ongoing contact with parents/caregivers.  Identify cultural, recreational

 and/or social activities to facilitate the young person’s participation in pro-social

activities.  Work collaboratively as part of an Integrated Case Management

Team. Transport youth to activities and appointments.  Travel within the

 geographic location for appointments with the young person.

Other Job Information:        Will be required to work outside normal office hours, such

                                                as evenings and weekends, depending on the time availability of the clients. Must have access to a roadworthy vehicle. Must have vehicle inspected on hire and annually thereafter. Must maintain vehicle according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Ability to operate a PC and related application software programs.

Hours of Work:                      20 hours per week.

Vehicle Use:                          Transports youth when required.Must have a Class 5 BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle. Annual vehicle inspections are required at employer’s cost.

Hourly Rate:                          Grid level 11 $27.54-$31.61 per hour according to experience
